Wire-O & Coil Bound Booklets
Professional Binding. Designed to Open Flat.
Product Description
Create practical, professional publications with our Wire-O and coil bound booklet printing. Both binding styles are designed to open easily and lay flat when in use, making them ideal for documents that need to be referred to regularly.
Individual pages are punched along the binding edge before being secured with either a Wire-O binding or a continuous plastic coil. This allows pages to turn easily and makes these binding methods particularly suitable for manuals, workbooks, training materials, notebooks and reference documents.
Our booklets are printed, collated, punched and bound in-house at Peterborough Print, giving us greater control over the finished quality while allowing us to offer short print runs and fast turnaround.
Wire-O and coil binding are particularly suited to:
- Training manuals and workbooks
- Instruction and reference manuals
- Notebooks and journals
- Presentation documents
- Course and educational materials
- Staff handbooks
- Product and technical guides
- Reports and reference documents
- Recipe and instruction books
- Frequently used documents
Wire-O Binding or Coil Binding – What's the Difference?
Both options provide an attractive and practical alternative to conventional booklet binding, but there are some important differences.
Wire-O Binding uses a series of double-loop metal wires inserted through punched holes along the edge of the pages. It creates a smart, professional appearance and is particularly well suited to presentations, reports, manuals, catalogues and other corporate documents where appearance is important.
Coil Binding uses a continuous plastic coil that passes through the punched pages. The flexible coil makes it particularly practical for documents that will be handled regularly. Pages can turn freely and can be folded back around the binding, making coil binding an excellent option for training manuals, workbooks, notebooks, instruction guides and frequently used reference material.
In simple terms:
Wire-O = smart, professional presentation
Coil = flexible, practical and ideal for frequent use
Why Choose Wire-O or Coil Binding?
Unlike saddle stitched booklets, Wire-O and coil bound documents aren't restricted to page counts in multiples of four. As the individual leaves are punched and bound together, you have much greater flexibility over the number of pages in your document.
Compared with perfect binding, which creates a traditional paperback-style glued spine, Wire-O and coil binding are particularly useful when you need your document to open flat and remain open while you're working from it.
This makes both binding styles an excellent choice when practicality, durability and ease of use are just as important as presentation.
Covers & Inner Pages
Choose from a range of paper stocks for your internal pages, with full-colour or black & white printing available.
Heavier card covers can be added to provide greater protection and give the finished booklet a more substantial appearance. Depending on your chosen specification, covers can also be finished with matt or gloss lamination.
Page Counts
Wire-O and coil binding can accommodate a wide range of page counts. The maximum number of pages will depend on the paper thickness and diameter of the chosen binding, so particularly thick documents may need to be checked before production.
Because individual leaves are bound together, there's no requirement for your page count to be a multiple of four.
